FORMER PLAYERS AT THE GAME
Reuben Houston (wearing red and white from reports), Kelly Rhino, Hugh Reilly, Andy-Tidwell Neal, Kyle Wallace. There were others as well............
BURNING REDSHIRTS
True frosh who played include Michael Johnson (kick return), Colin Peek (kick return), Matt Braman (punt return), Tony Clark (punt return), Mohamed Yahiaoui (kickoffs).
ERIC HENDERSON IS BACK
I didn't realize that EH was credited with 2 sacks during the game. That's against one of the top tackles in the nation, 6'9" 330lb Marcus McNeill. Outstanding and it bodes well for the rest of the season. Of course we didn't get much pressure from the other side with Adamm Oliver. That will be interesting to watch........
FIFTH PLACE FALLS IN THE RECORD BOOKS
Those 2 sacks move Eric Henderson to 5th place on the all-time GT list, passing Felipe Claybrooks........... Reggie Ball's pass to CJ moved him into a tie for 5th place with John Dewberry........... PJ Daniels is now 5th on the all-time GT rushing list with 2527 yards........ PJ Daniels also moves into a tie for 5th on the TD list with his 21st. Next on the list are Eddie Lee Ivery and Leon Hardeman with 22 each.
KICKING GAME IN QUESTION
You may have noticed that David Jordan lost his starting kicking job after two short line drive kicks. Mohammed Yahiaoui took over to finish with squib kicks the rest of the way. Will the Jackets ever have a guy who can kick it consistently in the endzone?
AUBURN QUOTE OF THE DAY
I love this quote from David Irons, who was covering Calvin Johnson. Here's what he said about the 35-yard TD to CJ:
"I was trying to play two receivers at the same time,'' Irons said. "I
forgot to stay with the good one, Calvin Johnson. I went to the other guy and
then I tried to get back.''
DEVELOPING DEPTH
Evidently, there were 17 players that played on defense
HEY, STEWART MANDEL, EAT MY SHORTS
Coach Gailey, the worst coach in college football (per Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel) beat the 2004 National Coach of the Year Tommy Tuberville. Go figure. I guess every sportswriter has a bad day.
Here's every story on Auburn you could want to read, from their perspective..........
UNC HAS A WATCH PARTY FOR GT/AUBURN - SORRY TO RUIN YOUR PARTY
Now, let's look ahead one week. North Carolina senior linebacker Tommy Richardson had a team party Saturday night. The team showed up at his apartment to watch the Georgia Tech / Auburn game to see what we really have. Check out the quote:
"We're going to go out there and watch the game, and we're going to have a good time and just see what they've got," UNC wide receiver Jesse Holley said of the Yellow Jackets. "They've lost some key guys on defense, which brings a smile to my face. I know it brings a smile to Coach Tranq's [offensive coordinator Gary Tranquill's] face, and hopefully we can expose that. I hope Auburn exposes it so I can learn from that and see what I can do and what I cannot do."
So what do you think now Tommie? Ready to "expose" our weaknesses? How'd you feel after your party big boy? You better be ready and hope YOU don't get exposed.
