Well, GT lost to Duke today. Not time to comment much, other than to say we are just not a strong offensive team. I'll post more later when I have a moment.
Some stories from this past week.
D'Andre Bell had a nice game from his injury to his high school team - try 30 points and 18 rebounds against one of the best teams in Cali. Link here to a discussion thread about Bell on a Cali hoops site (found on one of the discussion boards).
Signee Lewis Clinch has been named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association North-South all-star basketball team, which will play March 13 at Savannah St.......... He will be on the South team and will match up against Adade Aminu in the North. Link here.
Here are some notes from Paul Hewitt's call-in show. Key points - Jack had the flu and has gotten worn down from playing so many minutes the last number of games........ Coach takes the blame for not not building his team's confidence enough with the absense of BJ Elder. Thinks the players are trying to take too much on their shoulders........... Concerned that we have missed clear transition scoring opportunities. Execution has been poor even on clearly easy opportunites........ Coach has a philosophy to let each player on the team develop individually, which means not having a rigid offensive system to "put them in a box". Of course this has drawbacks, but he thinks the benefits to the program outweigh the negatives....... Jeremis Smith is not ready and still recovering........ Mario West's redshirt season was the best decision they made - he is physically a lot stronger now and will contribute strongly to this team the next two seasons (by the way people on this site thought I was crazy earlier in the season when I said he would player 15-20 minutes per game next season. Heck he's almost doing that now)............ Zam Fredrick is impressing the coach more and more during practice and just needs to continue being patient, as he is stuck behind a couple of nice guards. His time will come........
