New Academics AD

Phyllis LaBaw comes to Tech from USF, and looks like she has some good credentials. What will she do? The same thing she did at USF:

A member of the athletics staff at South Florida since 1994, LaBaw oversaw academic support services for more than 400 student-athletes in 18 NCAA-sponsored sports and was involved in numerous other administrative duties.

Evidently she's looking to recruit some talent of her own:

Phyllis LaBaw , USF's associate athletic director for academic services and a key contributor to the Bulls' recent success with the NCAA's academic progress report, is leaving to take the same position at Georgia Tech. LaBaw, a USF grad who has worked in the athletic department since 1994, will work under former USF athletic director Paul Griffin .

"A big chunk of my heart will always be here," LaBaw said.

LaBaw said she hopes to take assistant athletic director Cindy Moore with her to Georgia Tech. Also leaving USF is Marvin Caston , compliance coordinator for the past three years. He will fill the same role at Arkansas.
