This guy "Digs us"

Just caught halftime of the Wake Forest / GW game and guess who just picked Georgia Tech to win the whole shootin' match this season? None other than Digger Phelps. I always liked that guy :-)

By the way, Wake Forest looked decent, but GW hung with them for a long time. Paul is the real deal and they will be a tough team - IF THEY CAN PLAY BETTER DEFENSE.

Also, here are 10 questions answered about the ACC, including this on GT:

Q. How good is life these days at Georgia Tech? Pretty sweet.

There's the mix-and-match set of backcourt players that includes Jarrett Jack, B.J. Elder, Will Bynum and Isma'il Muhammad that gives Paul Hewitt more options than a trip to Ben and Jerry's.

Luke Schenscher is effective inside and there are plenty of complementary pieces. In other words, there are worse places to be in college basketball this season.
From the New York sports media, this guys picks GT in the Elite 8:
Pros: An outstanding recruiting class ensures that Tech's rotation will stretch at least 10 deep, an essential element of Hewitt's pressure defense.

Cons: The Yellow Jackets lose a steady hand in shooting guard Marvin Lewis.

Outlook: With a second full season, Jarrett Jack should be among the nation's best point guards and a healthy B.J. Elder certainly can make a difference in the tournament. But the team will be challenged not only by a tough schedule but great expectations.
We're not done with the NY media:
5. Georgia Tech (28-10)
The Yellow Jackets were one of the major surprises in the country last year - to everyone but Paul Hewitt. Hewitt knew what he had after Tech - playing without forwards Chris Bosh and Ed Nelson, who defected to the NBA and Connecticut, respectively - blistered UConn in the semifinals of the preseason Big Apple NIT. The Jackets eventually reached the NCAA title game before losing to the same Huskies.
Well, the Arizona media gets into the act as well:
5 new prime-time faces
» Paul Hewitt, coach, Georgia Tech: He's making the Rambling Wreck faithful forget that white-haired guy named Cremins.

5 reasons to tune in:
» Teamwork: Erstwhile Arizona guard Will Bynum has made the sixth-man role popular again, at Georgia Tech. You don't have to start to be a star. Teamwork works
