Bowl Update "of the day"

Ok, here's what I have been able to find out

1. We know that Virginia cannot play in the Champs Sports Bowl (CSB) in Orlando due to exams.

2. The CSB is trying to work with the ACC to convince either the Gator or Peach to take Virginia, which would mean the Jackets would again be likely headed to Boise.

3. The CSB does not want Georgia Tech. They want another team of the "8-3 record caliber". Folks, we're in the interesting spot of not being wanted by ANY of the bowls with ACC tie-ins.

4. In the meantime it is being reported that the ACC is close to inking a deal that would send Virginia to Shreveport to play in the Independence Bowl. That is the slot opened up by South Carolina declining a bowl bid after their little snafu with Clemson.

5. For this to happen, the Peach Bowl would have to release Virginia from consideration, which evidently they have not done yet.

6. Meanwhile, the MPC Computers Bowl in Boise would LOVE to have Virginia (duhh). They are saying they will only release Virginia if one of the Big East teams (BC, UConn, Syracuse) will agree to play there.
