Georgia Tech a Popular Pick for Pundits

Well, Georgia Tech happens to be a popular pick this weekend:

USAToday:

No. 18 Virginia at Georgia Tech, 1 p.m.
Following their loss to Miami, you have to wonder what the Cavaliers have left emotionally against a surging Georgia Tech squad. Al Groh will deserve a lot of credit if Virginia can get its first win in Atlanta since 1994. Georgia Tech 17, Virginia 14.

In just about every game, save the Miami loss, the Georgia Tech defense has played well enough to keep the team in the game throughout. The Yellow Jackets are giving up just 18.2 points per game this season, on 300.6 yards of total offense. In addition, this is a unit that has tallied 87 TFLs and 28 sacks, showing its ability to get upfield and disrupt things. Leading the charge in that area is junior linebacker Chris Reis, who is having a monster season in the middle of the defense, recording 57 tackles, with 13.0 TFLs and 7.0 sacks.

The Yellow Jackets will attempt to win back-to-back home games for the first time this season here today.

Eight out of 13 staff writers for this site pick the Jackets.....Well, most of the CFN staff may like the Jackets, but the guy who wrote this detailed write-up on the game disagrees.
Why Georgia Tech might win: Virginia's offense steamrolls average to bad teams and comes to a screeching stop against good defenses. The Cavalier passing attack isn't going to light anyone up needing to win on the ground, but that could be a problem against a Yellow Jacket run D that only allows 107 yards per game. In the final home game of the year, the defense will be even more intense
