More on the recent O-Line verbal commit:
DUNMON SAYS "YES" TO TECH: Three consecutive trips to the Georgia Dome should give Hawkinsville senior offensive lineman Trey Dunmon an idea on navigating Atlanta's busy one-way streets. Dunmon needs that experience because Friday he verbally committed to play with Georgia Tech over Mississippi.
No stranger to Atlanta - at least the downtown area - Dunmon and the Red Devils have advanced to the GHSA Class A semifinals inside the Dome for the past three seasons. Saturday, defending champion Hawkinsville beat Bowdon and will again host the Class A finals against Clinch County on Friday at 8 p.m.
After a Hawkinsville practice session at Tech's facilities last Friday, Dunmon said Tech defensive line coach Giff Smith text-messaged him: "(You and GT) Do you want to be a Yellow Jacket?"
Dunmon said he's always been a Tech admirer, plus his grandfather Danny attended high school with Tech coach Chan Gailey. Ultimately, the connection with Tech coaches and staying close to home propelled Dunmon to choose Tech, although he had previously verbally committed to Ole Miss a few weeks ago.
"At Tech, my family can come watch games, the distance isn't a problem," Dunmon said. "At Ole Miss, distance is a problem."
