Hoops Fix

ELDER'S 25 PACES JACKETS IN 103-66 WIN
The team is looking good, the core starters are shooting the ball well. The only real question is how ready the "bench" will be to step in and contribute. While Elder had 25, Luke 19, Isma'il 17, Jack & McHenry 11 each and Tarver 7, the 3 freshman combined for 6 points in 33 minutes (J.Smith did not play). In Anthony Morrow's first action he went 1-5 and 0-4 from 3pt. He did grab 4 boards though. However, the surprise of the day was Mario West, who ended with 6 boards and 7 steals in 14 minutes - a nice day of work.

ELDER SHARP IN FINAL EXHIBITION GAME

PROPS FOR LUKE...
...in a Charleston Paper, in the "Who's Hot" section:

LUKE SCHENSCHER: The 7-1 Australian became a fan favorite in the NCAA tournament for Georgia Tech. He looked so smooth, partic-ularly in the season's most important games. Schen-scher averaged 14 points and 11.5 rebounds in Georgia Tech's two Final Four games. Few teams in the country have someone to offset the senior in the post.

35 SECOND SHOT-CLOCK
35 points on hoops, and this on Luke:
:18 Really good players not raised on Big Macs and Jerry Springer: Luke Schenscher (Georgia Tech), Ronny Turiaf (Gonzaga), Jakob Sigurdarson (Birmingham-Southern), Andrew Bogut (Utah) and Jose Juan Barea (Northeastern).

NO LOVE FROM ESPN AT ALL
Let them keep underestimating us. We just love that. Thank you Katz, Forde, Bilas, Franschilla, Gottlieb and Glockner. Thanks for doing us a favor.

ESPN BRACKETOLOGY
More slights from ESPN, as Joe Lunardi has GT a #2 seed for the 2005 bracket. Of course it begs the question - why are we doing this now???

EVEN MORE SLIGHTS FROM ESPN
Some guy's effort at looking at the best and worst of hoops transfers with no mention of the impact of Will Bynum. The guy hits 3 game-winning shots in the dance and he doesn't make the list? Why bother look at this list now - zero credibility.

WAKE BACKCOURT BEST IN ACC?
Well, it's from a Charlotte paper, so a bit biased.

RIPE FOR THE PICKIN
On GT:
Georgia Tech _ FYI, I didn't even have the Yellow Jackets in the tournament last season. So you can imagine my surprise when Tech made it to the national championship game. I won't make that mistake again. Now everybody knows about Jarrett Jack, B.J. Elder, Will Bynum and Luke Schenscher.

PROSSER COMPARES GW TO JACK/BYNUM
From Prosser, who is getting ready for the pre-season NIT and findind comparison to the George Washington backcourt:
Prosser said that both Elliott and Thompson can handle the point. He compared them to guards Jarrett Jack and Will Bynum of Georgia Tech.

"Both of those guys are kind of interchangeable," Prosser said. "Elliott reminds me a little bit of Jarrett Jack, in terms of his size and the way he can score. And Thompson is sort of like Bynum.

"They're very good."
