Georgia Tech center Luke Schenscher said some people back in his homeland of Australia were excited for his team’s success last year, but certainly not everybody.

“A lot of people don’t really care about it. They just wanted to know if I was going to be playing Australian Rules Football or rugby anytime soon,” he said.

“Being in Atlanta, it hasn’t been that different. One of the benefits of being in Atlanta is there is so much going on. I’ve always tried to work in a city because it does keep things in perspective. I’m still not as popular as Georgia football, but every season ticket for this year was sold two weeks after the Final Four,” he said when asked if his personal life has changed any since playing in the championship game last year.

When Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt was asked how expansion was pitched to the ACC's hoops side -- which lost the beloved round-robin conference format that featured each team playing the others at home and on the road every season -- he said it was more of a force-feed than a sales job.

"`Shut up and eat your veggies, they're good for you.' `OK, Mom,''' Hewitt said.

"It was kind of like that. But we understood this was about survival and was something that made our conference as a whole stronger."
