Comments from Coach Hewitt and others from around the ACC.
More from the national scene.
And from Coach Hewitt on being big:
SPEAKING OF BIG: Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt expects his 7-1 senior center, Schenscher, to continue the progress he's shown throughout his career. Schenscher averaged 9.2 points and 6.6 rebounds last season.
Hewitt said he's been told "big guys play their best ball at the next level. He's a better college player than he was a high school player and he's going to be a better pro player than he is a college player.
"Is it always going to be smooth with big guys? No. You just have to be patient. Somebody told me a long time ago, whenever everybody else is tired, he's still going to be 7-1."
Having Schenscher and Jack, a junior point guard, on his roster gives Hewitt the two key elements he believes a team needs.
"Your point guard and center, if you are solid there you have a chance to be very, very good," Hewitt said.
16 EASIEST PLAYERS TO ROOT FOR
From Sports Illustrated, their top 16 guys to root for. Isma'il makes the list:
ISMA'IL MUHAMMAD
GEORGIA TECH '05
Tech's best perimeter defender is crowd favorite for his rim-rattling dunks. Also contributes on the boards (second on team in offensive rebounds) and last season came into his own offensively (hit 17 of 21 shots in one stretch).
