Another nice story on R.Grant. It is good fortune that so many programs backed off of Grant after his high school injury. And it is good thinking that we did not. Props to Coach Gailey.
It is exciting to see his style of running as well:
Grant's forte appears to be big runs. Twenty pounds lighter than Daniels and significantly quicker, he's not going to wear down a defense the way Daniels does, but he's much more likely to break off long runs. Half of his yards against the Wolfpack came on two plays.
Gailey does not call different running plays for Grant than he does for Daniels, sticking with the between-the-tackle runs. Once Grant finds a hole, though, he's the antithesis of Daniels.
Instead of lowering his shoulder and running through or side-stepping linebackers and defensive backs, Grant tries to elude them, cutting back sharply and outrunning them.
"It's going to be ups and downs, and we might get stopped, stopped, stopped and then you break a big one," Grant said.
