I have to admit - I like the thought of the shotgun with Reggie Ball. Seems as though it could expand our offense so much more and give Reggie more time to look at his receivers. Of course the question mark is - how do you fit in the shotgun with a hard-pounding runner who likes to get the ball 7 yards deep? In my mind, it will do good things for the offense, since the defenses we face will have to adjust to a new wrinkle. This from FoxSports: Georgia Tech will use numerous shotgun sets this fall to give dynamic QB Reggie Ball more options earlier in each play. The staff thought Ball missed too many reads in the passing game and too many opportunities to tuck and run last year because his back was to the defense on play-action fakes. Tech didn't run the shotgun last season because Ball still was learning the offense and because C Hugh Reilly, who since has departed, had problems with the snap. . . .
Speaking of QB's, what ever happened to Al Pena, the talented QB who committed with the Jackets along with Ball and Pat Carter (who transfered before the season started). Well, he is still competing for the starting job, but likely to never get it with incoming frosh Bobby Reid - story here.
