Former Georgia Tech running back Petit dies

Jim Petit Jr., a Benedictine Military School graduate who went on to play for Georgia Tech in football in the mid-'40s, died last Thursday of a brain hemorrhage at his Roswell home. He was 81.

The 5-foot-8 Petit, who was nicknamed "The Little General," helped the Yellow Jackets and coach Bobby Dodd to three winning seasons from 1946-48, including victories in the Oil Bowl in Houston and the Orange Bowl in Miami.

After college, Petit was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps during World War II and an Air Force officer. He settled in Atlanta in 1958, working as a sales executive in the trucking industry.
Rest well Mr.Petit Jr.
