Hoops Notes

Looks like GT turned down a pre-season tourney:

Look for the OB to announce soon that Miami will play Xavier and Florida will meet Providence in its men's basketball classic, which is being moved up a month to Nov. 27, at AmericanAirlines Arena. Georgia Tech declined an offer.

The Detroit press has listed their town's most gut-wrenching sports losses they have seen. Looks like GT makes the list:
1990: Michigan State led Georgia Tech by three points in the Elite Eight. Kenny Anderson made a two-pointer after the buzzer and the Spartans went on to lose the game in overtime. Huh? Yup. Replays confirmed Anderson's foot was on the line and the shot was late, but the referees got both calls wrong. The Yellowjackets went to the Final Four. MSU went home.
