Daily Swarm - Part 1

MORE ON BEESBALL
On the Jackets getting #4 seed.....More on both the Jackets and UGAg.

RECRUITING - HOOPS AND DEPARTURES
A look at recruiting class rankings both before and after early departures. The good news is that he gives GT the #1 class AFTER departures, which of course is all that matters - who will show up on campus........ Here's another article on the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions and re-caps of some players. Note that the 2006 class continues to standout over and above the 2005 class with the amount of talent available. That is a bit disappointing, since GT will of course likely sign anywhere from 5-7 players next season fromt he 2005 class. One mention for next year's class is Courtney Fells -

Courtney Fells, a long, lean 6-6 wing player from Shannon, Miss., visited N.C. State earlier in May and liked what he saw, but he also said that he's not close to making a decision.

Fells plans to visit LSU, Georgia Tech, Maryland and maybe Texas before making his choice early next fall.

TOMMY HAMMONDS JR SIGNS WITH ECU
Congrats to Jr., who is a 6'4" wing player. He signed with East Carolina. Link here.

MORE ON MIKE SOUTHALL
Story here.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW - K-FOX
Well, KC Chief's defense was terrible last year, but will K-Fox actually make the line-up (blurb here).
Kansas City didn't sign any defensive free agents, and while it drafted three defensive players in April, it would be a surprise if any of them (Oregon DT Junior Siavii, Georgia Tech LB Keyaron Fox and Idaho State DE Jared Allen) saw anything but reserve and special-teams duty this season.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW - MATT MURTON
Nice blurb on him here:
Former Eagle's Landing High School standout Matt Murton is one of the best power hitters this season for the single-A Sarasota Red Sox. He's second on the team in home runs (nine) and RBI (25). He's currently batting .268. Murton played at Georgia Tech and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2003 after his junior season. He played in the short-season New York-Penn League last year.
