Troy is "making his move" in becoming eligible for the PGA Tour in 2005.

Troy Matteson shot a 7-under-par 65 on Saturday to put himself back in position to make the PGA Tour in 2005.


Matteson is tied for 27th at 5-over 283 after four rounds of the PGA Tour Qualifying School in La Quinta, Calif.


The 2002 NCAA champion at Georgia Tech grew up in Knoxville and attended junior high school in Oak Ridge before moving to Austin, Texas.


The 169 golfers in the field are playing for 30 exemptions to the PGA Tour and 50 full exemptions to the Nationwide Tour. The tournament concludes Monday.
