Recruiting - Football

This coming weekend is one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year. GT will have a big list of official prospect visits, and if past history holds true, Chan Gailey will see a lot of committments soon after. As we've mentioned before, Chan Gailey's "closing rate" is very high if he can get a recruit on-campus to visit...... I'll try to post a full list if I see it in a public site. Suffice it to say there are some big names on the list.

We know that Maurice Wells is our top running back target, and it appears that his decision will probably come down to Ohio State or GT, with OS probably having a slight lead. In addition, we are in the running with Miami for probably the top high school Fullback in the nation, who actually wants to play tailback, but is open - Kalvin Bailey. Right now he favors Miami....... Here's another guy that GT has not offered, but has GT in his top 3, being a GA guy - T.J.Pitts. He is listed by Scout.com as the 36th best RB in the nation. He has offers from UVA, VT, UNC, Miss.St, and others.

Now that Todd Walker has backed out of his GT committment and decided on Texas Tech, QB recruiting has become a higher priority again........ GT is talking to a local GA guy - Nick Barwig. In addition they are talking to a Florida guy - Jonathon Garner. Garner originally committed to Florida, but is 2nd guessing things since they fired Zook - he will visist GT. Story here..... He has been trying to overcome an injury to his non-throwing arm.
