MORE BOWL SPECULATION

Could we be playing Troy???? Link here.

If Texas somehow jumps over California for a BCS bowl bid, then Cal could go to the Las Vegas Bowl and Troy could be the opponent for Georgia Tech in the Dec. 21 Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando.

However, this article says Colorado is our likely opponent:

Abruptly, the 7-5 Buffs tumbled from BCS longshot into a likely participant in the Champs Sports Bowl (formerly the Tangerine) and a pre-Christmas date with Georgia Tech in Orlando, Fla.

Here's a little more talk about the scenario with CU:

The BCS standings announcement will carry more suspense for Colorado (7-5). The Buffaloes play Georgia Tech in the Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 21 at Orlando unless Texas overtakes California for the No. 4 spot and the BCS bowl bid that goes with it. If that happens, Colorado is expected to play in the Houston Bowl on Dec. 29.

This from a Colorado site:

The Buffs are likely headed for the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 21 to face Georgia Tech in what would be the first meeting ever between the schools and a matchup of the two programs that shared the 1990 national championship.

A host of factors concerning what teams are selected for Bowl Championship Series games could contribute to the Buffs landing in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., on Dec. 28 or the Houston Bowl on Dec. 30.

Coach Gary Barnett said if the Buffs are sent to the Champs Sports Bowl, they will not be able to practice as much as in past bowl years because they need about a week off for final exams. Barnett said the team will practice Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week, before taking a break for final exams.
