Grant said he never lost hope, even when he didn't feel completely recovered until December, during bowl practices.

``I'm stronger than ever now,'' Grant said. ``I worked hard during rehab and I've been working hard all year. However they want to use me, I'll be ready.

``Coach [Gailey] has been telling me, `Once you get the opportunity, you've got to run with it.' That's what I wanted to do.''
