Football Fix

TECH'S BREZINA FOLLOWS DAD'S FOOTSTEPS

MEET GEORGIA TECH
From a UNC site.

BUNTING: HEELS NEED TO TURN UP INTENSITY

WHY BOWDEN'S BIG CONTRACT
Funny quote:

"Clearly, Georgia Tech had nearly 100 percent participation in church-goin' last week. ..."
Also note this on Calvin Johnson:
Game ball, Jackets style: The as-you-were-warned Calvin Johnson. Legends are made of road games where you catch the game-winner, catch the TD pass that sets up the game-winner, and catch another one, and bring in eight passes for 127 yards against a top 25 team.

And unlike at Clemson, Calvin can now expect more defensive company during route-running on Saturdays. ...

SNAPPER RIGSBY STILL PAINED

RIGSBY REELING FROM BAD SNAP
I feel for the guy:
"Saturday, I tried to go to sleep at 3:30 [a.m.]," Rigsby said. "I just woke up every 30 minutes hoping it was Friday morning and that it was a bad dream."
The poor guy has already dealth with this:
In February, he lost about $15,000 worth of possessions, including his bowl rings and letter jacket, in a fire that destroyed University Ridge Apartments and displaced about 140 Clemson students.

BIGS LEADS FED COMPLACENCY
Notice them Clemson thought we were going to run the ball on the last play with 16 seconds and no timeouts:
Run or pass? Hill said he expected Georgia Tech to run on Calvin Johnson’s game-winning, 11-yard touchdown catch over Justin Miller. Georgia Tech trailed by three and was out of timeouts with 16 seconds left.

“I thought they (were) just going to run it and be secure, but they came out and threw it, so yeah, it did kind of shock me,” said Hill, who had no receiver on his side.

In hindsight, Hill said Miller “probably did need some help, but we didn’t know it was coming. They were close enough to run it.”

BOWDEN THROWN FOR A LOSS
This on GT:
Georgia Tech and Wake Forest -- yep, Wake Forest -- will beat or scare the bejeezas out of any league team any week.

AMATO LOOKS TO GT GAME AS TURNING POINT
When do you think your guys started believing they can win these type of games?
AMATO: It's hard to say. I think that first year with the way we won some games. Georgia Tech on ESPN was a big game for us.
