The old ball coach made a comment about his days as a QB coach at Georgia Tech, his first coaching job:
Saturday's game at Florida will not be Spurrier's first time back as a coach with another team.
In 1979, Spurrier was coaching quarterbacks for Georgia Tech when the Yellow Jackets battled Florida to a 7-7 tie.
Spurrier said his return back then did not garner much media attention.
"Wasn't much, wasn't much," he said. "Nobody really gave a damn, to tell you the truth. Nobody really gave a dang who that quarterback coach was from Georgia Tech
back then."
Spurrier says the memories of that game are still vivid.
"I remember everything about that game," he said. "It was 7-7 and Florida attempted a field goal and Lawrence Lowe leaped up and blocked it for Georgia Tech to preserve a 7-7 tie."
