Bowling with 7 wins??

LOOKING FOR A BOWL GAME
Brian Murphy - Macon Telegraph
Well, I've said it myself, 7 wins may not get us into a bowl game this season. It should, but no guarantee. If we end up with 6 wins, we are going to have to hope that another conference does not have enough bowl-eligible teams to fill their slots......... Notice that PJ Daniels has started to wear the Lance Armstrong bracelet...... In this version of the story, also notice that Nate Curry has received the prestigious Bobby Dodd Scholarship, awarded to the top male scholar-athlete at GT. Nice going.

LEFT TACKLE SITS OUT PRACTICE
Rana Cach - AJC
Kyle Wallace sat out of practice due to a minor undisclosed injury. He should be back in practice in the next day or so. Also note that Nate Curry sat out most of practice.

HUMBLE GT RUNNING BACK

Another nice article on PJ Daniels and his special leadership qualities.

ACC TRAINING CAMP PREVIEW

Key questions about each ACC team. One theme throughout the ACC - questions at the QB spot. Even the established guys have a lot of question marks, with Chris Rix leading the way.

THE PERFECT RECRUIT
Ron Ingram - Birmingham News
Story of a talented 6'4" 235lb WR recruit considering GT named Tommy Trott. Of course he is from Alabama, one parent went to 'bama and one went to Auburn, and he is also considering Miami, Florida, Vandy, KY, Louisville, LSU and S.Miss.

Trott earned All-State honors in football and basketball and was All-State honorable mention in baseball. With a 3.41 grade-point average and 24 on his ACT, he can get into any Division I-A school in the nation. While he looks like a tight end or defensive end, he has the speed and athleticism to continue his role as a wide receiver in college. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds. His 17 TD receptions tied Joe Jones of Mountain Brook for the state high last season. For his career, Trott has 89 catches for 1,609 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Here's another recruit from Alabama considering GT - Ibrahim Hall - link here.

Also, here's a top DL prospect considering GT:
No. 14: ANDREW McCAIN, BRIARWOOD - The top defensive line prospect in the Class of 2005 stands 6-foot-6, 250 pounds and can run the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. In many lineups, he'd play tight end. For the Lions, he anchors a defense that secured Briarwood's first-ever 5A state title last season. He grew up an Auburn fan and has already received an offer from the Tigers. He's mulling offers from Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Georgia Tech and Duke as well.
How about Jahi-Word Daniels, who has already committed to GT:
No. 20: JAHI WORD-DANIELS, HOOVER - The Bucs defensive back had 35 tackles and three interceptions as a junior starter in the secondary of the Class 6A state champs. He also blocked a kick. Word-Daniels grabbed attention early in the year when he made a game-saving interception as Hoover knocked off national power Evangel Christian. The 6-foot, 175-pound speedster is an excellent student and has already committed to Georgia Tech.
On the rushing front, while Maurice Wells may be at the top of the recruiting board, here is another RB we are looking at - Timothy Hicks:
No. 21: TIMOTHY HICKS, WASHINGTON COUNTY - Considered too small by some schools, the 5-foot-8, 183-pound Hicks makes up for his lack of height with an abundance of talent and desire. Last season, in 12 games, he rushed for a state-leading 2,404 yards and 28 touchdowns on 179 carries while becoming a Class 2A player of the year finalist. That computes to 13.4 yards per rush and 200.3 yards per game. In many contests, he was on the bench encouraging his backup in the final quarter. Hicks also returned one punt 93 yards for a touchdown. He has 4,242 yards and 57 touchdowns for his career. He is being looked at by Alabama, Southern Miss, Georgia Tech, Troy State and Vanderbilt. He has a 3.0 GPA.
Wow, those are some impressive numbers.

Where are they now - Derrick Shepard
LOUISVILLE LINEMAN RUINS Q-C'S HOPES
Don Doxsie - Quad-City Times
We are talking Arena League Football 2 - AFL2. Did you know there was such a thing?
Derrick Shepard never had scored a touchdown in his life. Not one.
The 330-pound former Georgia Tech lineman has spent this entire arenafootball2 season rushing the passer and blocking, making it possible for others to score TDs. But on Saturday night at The Mark of the Quad-Cities, Shepard found himself in the right place at the right time to score one of the biggest TDs of the af2 season. Shepard scooped up a loose ball on a kick return and rumbled 10 yards into the end zone as time ran out to give the Louisville Fire a stunning 53-48 victory over the Quad-City SteamWheelers in the opening round of the af2 playoffs. Ten minutes later, he still hadn’t caught his breath, but he hadn’t lost his victory smile either.
By the way, these guys make about $300 / week. Don't expect the "bling bling" from these guys.
