O'Leary reunited with QB
Four years with Coach George O'Leary just wasn't enough time for George Godsey.
Godsey, who played quarterback under O'Leary at Georgia Tech from 1998-2001 and earned second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in 2000, now serves as a UCF offensive graduate assistant.
Godsey played arena football after leaving Tech and won an ArenaBowl as a backup with the Tampa Bay Storm in 2003.
He was in Texas for another season of arena ball when he called his old coach for some advice.
"I called him up and wanted some advice on where I was at," Godsey said.
"Fortunately, there was a position open."
"I think it's the best thing for me and a good thing for him to get another guy that knows what he wants."
Godsey tutored quarterbacks during the summer and currently is helping the offensive line, but as a young assistant, he also has to do some grunt work.
"It's a lot of yard dog work to start off, but I'm with a great offensive staff that's going to help me learn the business," Godsey said.
O'Leary is very pleased with the attitude and contributions of his former quarterback.
"He does what few young coaches do -- he has something done before you ask for it to be done, which is a sign of a guy that's in tune with what's going on," O'Leary said.
