The 24 year right-handed pitcher is working his way up the Cardinal organization. Here is one review of his stuff: 9. Rhett Parrott, RHP, Age: 24
The Cardinals drafted Parrott out of Georgia Tech with a ninth-round pick in 2001. To date, the performance hasn't really been there, but the organization loves his attitude and poise on the mound. He has a decent fastball and a solid change, but his lack of a breaking pitch may eventually force him to the bullpen. Right now, the Cards still think of him as a back-of-the-rotation type, but, given the praise they lavish upon him in terms of his makeup and his limited repertoire, it wouldn't be a shock to see him eventually get a look as closer. ETA: Late 2004.
