So, it turns out R.Morris's older brother IS transferring to UK after all (story here). While I am tempted to downgrade that tactic as a low-blow way to entice Randolph, I guess we must keep in mind that his brother WAS a manager on the GT team. None of really knows the circumstances of how or why he was there, or why he is transferring, but it is what it is........... For more post-mordem on the Morris decision, read halfway down this article. Evidently Tubby only talked to Morris 3 times during his recruitment.
Check out these comments on Morris's candor from a UK news site. Quote - "It's too bad Randolph Morris will be muzzled by the UK censors when he gets to Kentucky. His candor in his brief news conference was refreshing. Not only did he say he picked UK over Georgia Tech because of its less-rigorous academics but that "Big Blue is not just basketball, it's a lifestyle." Mel Brooks said it another way: "It's good to be the king." OOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhh KKKKKKKKKaaaaaayyyy. Good job Randolph for basically making it sound like you chose UK because the academics would be a cake-walk.
Here is an interesting article about players leaving early and the impact on the ACC. Has a lot of good quotes from ACC coaches, including ideas like eliminating the early signing period and possibly adding 2 more 'ships to make the max 15 to make losses less hurful.
Here is a fascinating article on recruiting and the AAU scene. Notice mention of powerbroker Art Alverez, who evidently fields calls from some big name coaches including our own Coach Hewitt.
Speaking of recruiting, here is an article on why some track-and-field athletes pick certain schools. There are comments on a GT recruit who ended up elsewhere.
