Murton continues to tear it up in the minors. Evidently he leads all of minor league baseball with a .418 average.....
Outfielder Matt Murton captured the BC Powder Hitter of the Week honors for the week of April 18-24. During the week, Murton was batting .538 and had multiple hits in six of the seven games played against the Tennessee Smokies and Huntsville Stars. Murton started off the week with two consecutive three-hit games at Tennessee, including a two-homer, three-RBI effort on April 18.
As of May 3, 2005, the 23-year-old former Georgia Tech star currently ranks first in all of Minor League Baseball in batting average (.418) and first in hits (41) in the Southern League.
