Well, the Buck Fredrick situation got Gregg Doyel thinking about other famous package deals - and here is his list........... Meanwhile, the rest of the media is catching up to the fact that Zam Fredrick is staying......... The State.......
"It has always been that way. He has always been staying," Hewitt said. "I'm glad he's staying. He came back, started summer school (Monday), and I'm looking forward to working with him next fall."
Other papers are catching up....... the Charlotte Observer....... The Associated Press......... There's some interesting quotes about the situation in this very local SC paper......
In other Hoops news, Coach Hewitt spoke to the Augusta alumni group last night. Nothing too new, other than he has a decided lean in his comments that confirm what we don't want to hear - that Jacket fans need to start preparing for life after Jarrett Jack. Come on people, I cannot believe that 40% of the people who voted in the new poll (lower right column) think he's coming back. Chances are slim and none, and both slim and none have left a week ago. It really comes down to this - if he's a 1st round lcok he's gone. If a team promises he is their guy, he's gone. And folks, he ain't dropping to the 2nd round. So I'd like to introduce your new PG tandem - Zam Fredrick and Austin Jackson. Get used to it...............
In the ACC, ain't it great when UNC doesn't always get who they wanted? It happened this week, as they lost out on 2005 recruit Uche Echefu, who is headed to FSU. Old L.Hamilton sure can land some talent. Too bad he doesn't seem to be able to develop it. But hey, here's to better ACC balance and beating each other up even more. And here's to Carolina losing out for once......
