We all like to talk about those kids who leave early and it turns out to be a terrible mistake. What about those kids who SHOULD have left early, but chose to stay around, only to watch their stock plummet? Well, NBADraft.net takes a look at these caution stories, and they include one from Georgia Tech. Most should know it well - James Forest.
James Forest 6-8 PF Georgia Tech
Forest was always a bit of a tweener, with power forward skills, but at 6-7 1/2 lacked the height to be a high draft pick. He was a top 5 recruit in the nation coming out of high school and averaged close to 20 points in his sophomore and junior seasons at Georgia Tech. He returned for his senior year and his stats dipped significantly (under 14 ppg.) and he went undrafted in the 1995 draft. He went from a likely late first rounder in his junior year to undrafted his senior year. Forest has played professional ball in Italy and Greece for most of the past 10 years. He finished the past season in the Italian second division with Fabriano.
