Troy's attempt to get his 2005 PGA Tour card took a hit Sunday:

Matteson shot a 4-over 76 to drop from a tie for 27th to a tie for 71st. after five rounds of the PGA Tour Qualifying School in LaQuinta, Calif.


The 2002 NCAA champion at Georgia Tech grew up in Knoxville and attended junior high school in Oak Ridge before moving to Austin, Texas.


The 169 golfers in the field are playing for 30 exemptions to the PGA Tour and 50 full exemptions to the Nationwide Tour. The event concludes today.
