"Best Offense" in the ACC, by Justin Reynolds, link here. On GT:
10. Georgia Tech: (QB-9, RB-8, WR-9, OL-8): I truly believe the Jackets will struggle this year offensively. Reggie Ball is more of a playmaker than a great quarterback. The Jackets do intrigue me in how they are able to get so much production from their running backs year after year.
Question Marks: 1) Who will Ball throw the ball to? Jonathan Smith graduated and was the only legitimate threat when the Jackets went to the air in 2003. 2) Will the offensive line be able to create space for 2003 leading rusher PJ Daniels? Nat Dorsey and Hugh Reilly leave big holes in the offensive front.
While he does ask good questions, it is obvious the depth of his analysis is weak. He does not account for a more mature Reggie Ball, WR's N.Curry and C.Johnson.
Here, David Dohrmann from the Duke site takes his crack at ranking the Linerbackers - link here. On GT:
10. Georgia Tech – The Jackets have the daunting task of replacing 4-year starter Daryl Smith as well as last year’s leading tackler Keyaron Fox. As of right now, the starters are sophomores Nick Moore and KaMichael Hall, as well as redshirt junior Gerris Wilkinson. They have big shoes to fill, and time will tell if they can step up and replace the departed seniors.
You know, David probably gets this one right in terms of GT's placement. Not because our guys won't get the job done, but because they are such unknowns at this point. In many ways, that's the story on the offense also.
