Hoops - Javaris Crittenton Update

From GoldtotheBone over at the Hive:

Southwest Atlanta Christian finished fifth in the December 27-31 Arby's Classic tournament in Bristol, TN, beating Father Henry Carr HS from Toronto 75-56. Javaris Crittendon had 29 for SAC in this game on 12-20 FG and 3-4 FT.

The Arby's Classic featured 18 teams, including two time defending Tennesee AA state Champion Bolivar Central featuring 6-3 Memphis signee Willie Kemp and 6-9 Tennesee signee Wayne Chism and Brentwood Academy, the Tennesee private school champion with 6-9 Brandan Wright, a UNC signee. These two teams met in the final game, which was won by Brentwood. Several top prospects, including 6-6 junior Zane Johnson of Phoenix Thunderbird HS, 6-7 senior D. J. Wright of Father Henry Carr HS of Toronto and 6-5 Ramon Harris of West Anchorage, AK HS played in the tournament.

Southwest Atlanta Christian won their first game easily 60-35 over Dobyns-Bennett HS, a local team, with Javaris scoring 19 on 8 FGs. Then they lost in the second round 63-55 to Science Hill HS, another local team. He had 22 points on only 9-24 shooting and 4-9 FT in that game, after sitting out several minutes with foul trouble. In the third game, SAC won 69-49 over Keenan HS from Columbia, SC. In that game, he scored 13 on 5-13 FG and 3-7 FT.

Javaris won the slam dunk contest over some very good competition! He and teammate Danny Friend made the 20 player all-tournament team. Brandan Wright was the well-deserved tournament MVP. He runs like a deer, leaps quickly and can handle the ball like a guard. He will hard to handle for UNC.

Javaris is a very athletic and quick player, a good ballhandler who can drive to the goal or pull up for the jumper. His jump shot came and went during this tournament. He will be hard to keep out of the starting lineup for Tech next season.
