Football - Looking Ahead to 2006

How's this for an opening to the 2006 season:

If you bleed Irish, mark your calendar for Sept. 2 against Georgia Tech. That’s when Notre Dame begins its football quest for a national championship.

Nine months can’t go fast enough for those who believe 2006 will be a season to remember and want to forget another bowl heartbreak — and why not? The Irish (9-3) are set to return eight starters on a potent offense and nine on a not-so-potent-but-surely-will-improve defense.

If that doesn't get you fired up this coming spring nothing will. Another national power to open this season. There will be plenty of tradition to talk about prior to this game. Don't fret too much in the off-season. Another season on the gridiron is just around the corner.
