Recruiting - Hoops

Doc Rivers has a son who happens to be very talented in his own right on the court, and also happens to be interested in GT.

Chip off the ol' block Last summer Scutero coached Nike Team Florida, an Amateur Athletic Union team. One of his players was Jeremiah Rivers, the son of former Marquette star Glenn Rivers.

Scutero is convinced Jeremiah Rivers will make his mark in college just as his father did.

"He's the real deal,'' Scutero said of Jeremiah who, like his father, is 6-4 and plays point guard. "He's got the whole package.'' While the elder Rivers was not only one of the greatest players but nicest ones in MU history, and has a friendship with current Golden Eagles coach Tom Crean, the younger Rivers doesn't appear inclined to follow in his dad's footsteps. While he considered Marquette, Rivers reportedly has whittled his college options to Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame.
