Well, this doesn't make you feel so good about the first practice - link here.
It took one practice, one poor practice for the Georgia Tech men's basketball team, for Yellow Jackets' coach Paul Hewitt to get over last year's success.
Of course there could be some posturing from the Coach as he finds effective ways to motivate his squad. We'll see.
"Last year is officially over. Trust me," Hewitt said, referring to Tech's national runner-up finish last year. "A practice like (Saturday) morning slaps you back to reality real quick."
Though last year is now just a memory for the Yellow Jackets, several players are still battling to put last season's injuries behind them.
Guard B.J. Elder is still bothered by the sprained right ankle he suffered against Nevada in the Sweet 16. Forward Isma'il Muhammad is still dealing with tendonitis in his left knee. Center Luke Schenscher had surgery to remove a bone spur in his left foot in early August.
"We've got to find a way to fight through it and take care of our bodies the right way," Hewitt said. "Those guys have got to understand that treatment is very important. They need to get in the training room every day and do the things that they need to do. These injuries are not supposed to stop you from playing."
