Billy Donnovan wants to play GT...

...in hoops with no media, no fans, no refs. Just in a sweaty gym with only the squeek of shoes and the bounce of the ball making noise. Link here.

New NCAA rules prohibit teams from playing AAU-sponsored teams in the preseason.

But if Florida coach Billy Donovan had his choice, he'd take advantage of another loophole in the new preseason rules.

The rule allows Division I teams to play other Division I teams in the preseason. The catch: games can't be covered by the media, officials can't be used and admission can't be charged.

For instance, Donovan said, he could take his team by bus to play Georgia Tech in a morning and afternoon session, so long as no one knows about it.

"Georgia Tech is ranked very high this year," Donovan said. "They're in the top five. To me, close by, geographically, it would be awesome to go up to play a team like that for our guys to find out where they're at."
