Where are they now - Best / Anderson / Bosh

Well, Travis Best signed a deal with the Nets and may actually be the starting PG the first month of the season as Jason Kidd recovers from an injury - link here.

Travis Best, a nine-year veteran out of Georgia Tech, was signed in early October and should spell Kidd from time-to-time and will likely start the year as the team's starting point guard. He will be challenged by another veteran Jacques Vaughn for the starting spot in the beginning of the year.

Best spent last season with Dallas and averaged 2.8 points and 1.8 assists in 61 games, while Vaughn averaged 3.8 ppg and 2.8 apg in 71 games with the Atlanta Hawks a year ago.

The 31-year-old Kidd, who is expected to miss at least the first month of the season recovering from the knee surgery, will be joined in the backcourt by Mercer, who will be playing for his seventh team since coming into the league in 1997 with the Boston Celtics.

Kenny Anderson doing his part for the community - link here.
Atlanta Hawks guards Kenny Anderson and Josh Childress attended a special literacy event with approximately 200 area elementary school students at ImagineIt! The Children's Museum of Atlanta on October 16 ... Anderson, from Georgia Tech, and Childress, one of the Hawks' first round picks in last June's NBA Draft, served as celebrity readers and spoke to the students about the importance of education ... The event was held in conjunction with the Hawks' Read to Achieve and Hands on Atlanta's Reading Adds Up youth literacy initiatives ... Read to Achieve is sponsored by Philips Electronics and Sprite.

Meanwhile, is Chris Bosh "caught in the middle"? Link here. The Raptors have 3 guys competing for the center spot and none are standouts, which could mean Bosh ends up at the 5-spot again, something his coach does NOT want (and neither does Bosh).

In Bosh's latest game, he dropped in 12 points and 9 boards. Evidently he is really starting to emerge in camp - link here.
The emergence of sophomore Chris Bosh has been one of the most pleasing aspects of camp so far, he said.

“He has the potential to be as good as he wants to be,” said Mitchell, who replaces the fired Kevin O’Neill. “He does some things that amaze the coaching staff.”

It’s not certain yet exactly what role Bosh will fill on the team, he said. Bosh could play some center as he did last season, but the club would rather see the second-year big man play the three or four forward position to reduce physical striain on his lanky frame.
