Well, UNC and Dook handle their business, although Air Force made it interesting. So what is the conference tally?
In order of Conference Sagarin Ranking:
ACC...........4-0 (w-Dook, UNC, WF, MD)
SEC............1-1 (w-Al, L-Florida)
Big12.........2-0 (w-TexasTech, Texas)
BigEast......3-0 (w-UConn, Seton Hall, Syracuse)
Big10.........0-1 (L-MichSt)
ConfUSA.....1-1 (w-Depaul, L-Charlotte)
MW.............0-2 (L-Air Force, BYU)
PAC10........1-1 (w-Standford, L-AZ)
WA.............1-1 (w-Nev, L-UTEP)
A10............1-1 (w-St.Joseph's, L-Dayton)
MV...............0-1 (L-S.Illinois)
WC.............1-0 (w-Gonzaga)
MAAC.........1-0 (w-Manhatten)
MC..............0-1 (L-Valpo)
Ivy...............0-1 (L-Princeton)
AE...............0-1 (L-Vermont)
SL...............0-1 (L-Texas SA)
BigSouth.....0-1 (L-Liberty)
SWA............0-1 (L-Alabama St.)
CAA.............0-1 (L-VCU)
The top5 rated Sagarin Conferences are a combined 11-1. The rest are a combined 5-15. So what does this mean? In my book, the major conferences are dominating and the high/mid-majors are not exactly stating their case for being at the dance. Think about it - what if you had FSU or UVA in place of..... oh I don't know.......Air Force, or Liberty, or any of the many teams that they could beat most nights. Bottom line - the best 64 teams are not at the dance. Yes, this may give the mid-majors some fun, but most just cannot compete with the majors. But hey, I guess that's life - at least it's tons better than the crappy football system.
