A Daily Dose

BASKETBALL
Looks like R.Felton is going to model his game from now on based on what he did to us................ Does BJ Elder have ADD? See these comments from a NC paper - "Seeking consistency: Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt said guard B.J. Elder isn't far away from being one of the ACC's best players. If there is one thing he sometimes lacks, his coach says, it's consistency. "I think there are times when his concentration wavers and wanders a little bit," Hewitt said. Elder leads Georgia Tech with 15.6 points per game, but has taken 54 more shots than anyone else on the team. He posted 22 points while playing one of his best games in the Yellow Jackets' victory against No. 1 Connecticut in November, but struggled during Sunday's loss at North Carolina (12 points, 3-for-9 shooting). .............. On the recruiting trail, Anthony Morrow's team lost on a last second 3-pt shot 63-61. The shot was made after an inbounds play with 1 second on the clock. Morrow scored 28 points................. Meanwhile Jeremis Smith helped Dunbar beat a tough Eastern Hills squad 83-68. Smith scored 38 points, including 26 in the 2nd half. He also grabbed 14 rebounds. Most quotes from people who were at the game said he was "a man among boys"........... Earlier I reported about Ra'Sean Dickey's coach walking his team off the floor with a lead and 2 minutes remaining. Here is an article quoting the ref, who saw things very differently.

FOOTBALL
What is the stress of an AD job? This article tries to address it. No doubt Braine was feeling the heat after the way the football team ended the season last year. But let's face it - Braine stuck to his guns and to his guys and we will be better for it............ CFN.com takes a look at how some of the highly prized recruits from 2000 panned out. GT gets menion with Hobie Holiday - "DE Hobie Holiday, Georgia Tech – Holiday saw limited playing time in his three years on The Flats and opted to transfer to Valdosta State before the 2003 season began."............ Make sure to check out Fox Sports South at 6:30 tonight. Calvin Johnson will be a guest and will talk about his commitment this week to GT. The will also spotlight GT recruiting............

Jay Payton has landed in San Diego. Check out this blurb: Center field is Payton’s place in San Diego: Jay Payton landed a big piece of real estate in downtown San Diego -- center field at Petco Park. Payton agreed to a $5.5 million, two-year contract with the San Diego Padres, who continue to build toward the April opening of their $458 million ballpark. After adding All-Star catcher Ramon Hernandez, left-hander David Wells and infielder Jeff Cirillo, general manager Kevin Towers felt Payton was the final player needed to make the Padres competitive after five consecutive losing seasons. "I’ve always been a big Jay Payton fan, going back to my scouting days," Towers said. "I turned him in higher than Nomar Garciaparra when they were at Georgia Tech. He was a better hitter then."
