How about those Turtles?

I for one don't buy into the hype surrounding NC State battling for a spot in the BCS. Just because scheduling quirks don't have them taking on the big boys until late in the year doesn't make them instantly good. For my money, the second best team in the ACC this year is the Maryland Terrapins and they deserve the Gator Bowl spot now that we've forfeited it. Their only bad loss was to FSU after a devastating loss to NIU that had to really bring the team down.

Take away that heartbreaker that the Jackets put on them and they're tied with FSU. Their defense is outstanding, and their offense is very efficient. They put the hurt on the Cavaliers last night on national TV and they'll likely take down both Wake and NCSU to finish out a 9-3 season that looked BAD after losing to NIU early.

If my musings are correct and if (BIG IF) the Jackets can muscle up a couple more ACC wins, that puts the ACC standings at:

FSU 7-1
Terps 6-2
Jackets, Clemson 5-3
NCSU 4-4
UVA, Wake 3-5

Wow...with the exception of the overachieving Jackets and the underachieving Wolfpack, that's about where I might have put the standings at the outset.
