Good news for Bobby Cremins and Hoops Team

Bobby Cremins is honored as the Bobby Roberts Award Winner by the Greater Augusta Sports Council. Link here. Congrats!!! Also note that he had knee replacement surgury 3 weeks ago. Hope you're feeling better Coach!!

Also note this about Zam Fredrick, who has apparently gotten into game shape:

Fredrick, Dickey ready at Georgia Tech. Coach Paul Hewitt lost two of his top nine players from last season’s national runner-up squad, but he isn’t ruling out the chances of freshmen Buck Fredrick (Calhoun County) or Ra’Sean Dickey (Marlboro County) getting playing time.

Hewitt said the 6-foot-2 Fredrick has dramatically improved his conditioning to handle a higher level of basketball.

“I think he realizes the game is going to be much faster at this level,” Hewitt said. “Most people won’t recognize him. He’s dropped about 15-18 pounds and I think he’s trying to drop another eight to 10 pounds.”

The 6-9 Dickey is recovering from offseason knee surgery, but Hewitt said he will add depth on the interior where the Yellow Jackets are thin.

“Ra’Sean has got size and can score with his back to the basket,” Hewitt said. “Right now, the only guy we have who can score with his back to the basket is (7-2 center) Luke Schenscher. Having a guy like Ra’Sean really helps.”

Also note that Jim Calhoun and Paul Hewitt were in attendence, and Calhoun continued the playful jabs at Hewitt - link here.
Georgia Tech's Paul Hewitt, who was in attendance, was a continual subject of Calhoun's one-liners. Hewitt's Yellow Jackets were defeated by Calhoun's Huskies in the NCAA title game in April.

At one point, Calhoun extended a fist toward Hewitt, his gold national championship ring glittering in his direction.

"It'll be OK, Paul," Calhoun joked.

"As soon as I saw his name, I kind of figured it'd go that way," Hewitt said later. "He got the last laugh, so that's the one that counts."

Calhoun did commend Hewitt, saying he didn't think anyone in the country did a better job with his team last year.
