Recruiting - Austin Jackson and Illinois frustration

Illinois fans are very frustrated right now with recruiting efforts. They want the blue chippers and seem to be losing all the recruiting battles. Austin Jackson was the latest in a series of disappointments. The biggest was Julian Wright, who most believed was a strong lock for Illinois and ended up committing to Kansas during an in-home visit from HC Bill Self, after most thought KU was out of the running. Of course remember, Self was the coach at Ill. before taking the KU job, adding insult to injury. Link here to story on Illinois frustration.

Then last week a buzz built again as Illinois battled Georgia Tech for the services of Texas prep guard Austin Jackson. And when Jackson said he'd join coach Paul Hewitt with the Yellow Jackets, another wretching sound reverberated throughout the Internet.

At this rate, Illini fans must have the dry heaves.

Why did Georgia Tech get Austin Jackson? I guarantee you Tech's visit to last season's Final Four went a long way toward making it happen.
