The Day After..... 24 hours not up yet

GT 20 MD 7
The Fridge on his offense:

"Our offense was inept. That was maybe one of the worst offensive performances I've ever been associated with," he said. "It's the worst we played in a long time."

Gailey on GT's defense:
"I don't think I can ever say enough about the defensive effort tonight," Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey said. "They moved it a little bit the first couple of times they had the ball, and then after that we kept them off balance."
POST GAME QUOTES FROM MARYLAND
From the Fridge:
"My hats go off ... to Coach Gailey and the Georgia Tech football team. They totally outplayed us tonight and really deserved to win. ... Obviously we got outcoached, we got outplayed, we got outhit, we got outhustled. It was probably the most disappointing I've seen our team play in a long time."

Gailey on Reggie Ball:
"I told him, don't go out there not to make mistakes, you're going to play loose and aggressive. He went out there and played the way he's capable of playing. We've got to keep him [at that level of play]. That's part of being a great player, no matter who you are. You've got to be consistent."

SI.COM ON THE GAME
Check this out:
The Yellow Jackets held the Terps to an amazing 81 yards on 61 plays after they gained 685 yards against Duke two weeks ago. It was the fewest yards allowed by Georgia Tech since yielding 32 to Florida in 1963.

DEFENSE THROTTLES TERPS
On Tenuta's schemes:
Tech defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta ought to write a handbook on shutting down Maryland's offense. It would be a sure best seller throughout the ACC

BALL QUIETS CRITICS...AND HIS MOM
FINALLY!!!!! The type of quote from Reggie Ball that is fitting from a team leader:
The Yellow Jackets had 328 yards of offense and allowed just one sack.

Impressive numbers for any game, but even more so when you consider that the two offensive linemen were making their first career starts.

Redshirt freshmen Kevin Tuminello (center) and Matt Rhodes (left guard) started in place of injured linemen Andy Tidwell-Neal (left ankle) and Brad Brezina (head).

"I'm so proud of them. I want both of them to get offensive player of the week," Ball said. "To come in and do what they did on the road, I want them to get it."

GAME NOTES AND STATS
Did you know that this is Chan Gailey's 4th win over a ranked opponent in 3 seasons, with 3 of those victories coming on the road. 81 total yards allowed is the lowest in school history for an ACC game. Maryland had -7 yards in the 4th quarter.

"HORRIBLE" TERPS FLUNK TEST
The Fridge ain't happy:
"I'm going to do what I've got to do to win football games," he said. "If that means changing people, firing coaches, doing what I've got to do ...

ALL-ACC FOXWORTH NOT UP TO CHALLENGE
As a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection and the most experienced member of the Terrapins' secondary, Foxworth wasn't often challenged as quarterbacks looked in different directions.

But that changed yesterday in Georgia Tech's 20-7 humbling of Maryland at Byrd Stadium. Yellow Jackets sophomore Reggie Ball threw at Foxworth several times and produced results that didn't exactly sit well with the Western Tech alum.

"I definitely pictured when I got some action to be a little different than that," said Foxworth. "But it's nice to be involved in a game and it's nice to feel that I had a negative or positive impact on the game."

UVA FANS ON THE GT PLAY CALLING
You have to admit, that's pretty funny stuff. Actually, it's not true, but it certainly plays to the stereotypes about Gailey's offense.
