Football - Tashard Choice

Well, 680am in ATL reported last week that running back Tashard Choice had been granted a waiver to skip his transfer year and become eligible for the 2005 season. The AJC wrote that it is not a done deal however. Word is we will be hearing something very soon.

You might be asking - why have him eligible when we have 3 strong RB's in the line-up. Why not "save" him? Well, because he has already taken a redshirt year. Since NCAA rules say "5 to play 4", if he skips a year, he loses a year of eligibility. So we definitely want him active if possible.

Choice has applied for a hardship waiver of some type and both schools have to approve the request before the NCAA will even consider it.
