Well, the recruiting season continues to be an up-and-down one for the Jackets. It was just reported by Rivals that Marvin Sapp, who had committed to the Jackets, has changed his mind and wants to be part of the dynasty that Steve Spurrier wants to build in South Carolina.
By the way, Sapp is high school teammates with Maurice Wells, who picked Ohio State over the Jackets this weekend also.
Frustration continues for many as QB Todd Walker commits and decides he wants to play WR for Texas Tech (where his father played), Carlos Thomas commits, has his visit cancelled because of academic issues and then decides that GT is not the place for him. Now Marvin Sapp de-commits to join the Gamecocks after being star-struck with Spurrier.
Are there others that are considering other schools that have verballed? Yes, TE Michael Johnson, who is considered a top 10 recruit in the state of Alabama, and Taalib Tucker, a talented LB prospect from ATL. They are both considered "soft", but in my book everything is soft until there is ink on paper.
Is there good news? Yes, there were 6 visitors this weekend, and we know that QB Jonathan Garner will decide on Tuesday and make his announcement. He is down to GT and Louisville and personally I think there's about a 75% chance he goes here. Why - stronger chance to play.
Don't fret. There's still time and there are always suprises. Let's wait until signing day to render final judgement.
