Comments on the NC State football game

Chuck Amato says that he doesn't care how many points get scored against NC State as long as they win. OK, I guess I buy that, except if they really want to compete at a national level year-in and year-out, they better build that defense. Do they have someone to take River's place when he is gone? If Tech has 1000 yards of offense and we lose, I will be encouraged. Our offense has not shown a consistent ability to move the ball even against average teams like Vandy.

Unfortunately, based on this article, it sounds like Gailey is not willing to open up the offense too much. I hope he doesn't wait too long into the NC St. game to change his mind, or it will be 21-0 before you know it. I sure hope Tech is not solely relying on the "big play" to break-through (see article). Big plays are fantastic, but consistent ball movement down the field, conversion of 3rd downs and ball control win games. How about this article calling Ball "Atlanta's Vick Jr.". I think that is quite premature. Ball has proven his ability to run and has had a few flashes of a strong accurate arm, but those have been flashes. He is developing nicely but just because a quarterback can run (and is black) does not mean he should be compared to Mike Vick.

We know NC St is going to attack the Tech defense. That's a statement of the obvious. Here are 5 questions for the Jackets going into the game.
