WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOU---- ........uuuhh... nevermind

Man, the roller coaster that is Georgia Tech football continues. The Jackets wend to College Park and absolutely took it to the Fridge and his Terps, winning 20-7.

Folks, this is only the 2nd time the Fridge has lost at home since he became head coach of the Terps. The other loss - FSU. This was big!!

I could not be more proud of our team for bouncing back in such a fine fashion. The offense and defense looked good today, particularly the D. Jon Tenuta had a great gameplan against a team that rolled up almost 700 yards against Duke. Today, GT held them to to less than 100 yards in total offense. Absolutely stunning.

On offense, Reggie Ball bounced back to the pressure of the last two weeks in a great way, showing command of the offense, with crisp passing and no INT's. He seemed very poised.

After the game, Wes asked Reggie about the added pressure Coach put on him by naming Taylor Bennet the #2. Gailey said - Wes, we would have used him too. If Reggie had a few more bad series, we would have put Taylor out there. But Reggie bounced back. I sat down with him this week and told - don't play not to make mistakes. Give it your all. If you have the ability, just do it.

Well, he did it. Some stats from the game

Passing: Reggie was 11-22 for 197 yards, 1TD, 0INT.
Rushing: PJ Daniels rushed 26 times for 91 yards, Reggie Ball rushed 14 times for 43 yards.
Receiving: Calvin Johson 3-76, L.Thomas 3-59, N.Curry 3-42, P.Clark 1-11, J.Dixon 1-9.

On special teams it was a mixed day. Travis Bell was perfect with 2 FG's, and would have had a 3rd had a penalty not taken a make off the board backed us out of FG range. P.Carter did a nice job returning punts. He looked confident and had some nice moves. He returned 4 for 43 yards. We continue to have problems on kickoffs, by giving up a 52 yard return by Suter to go along with a bunch a squib and low line-drive kickoffs. Belcher once again made a TD-saving tackle, to give him 3 TD-saving tackles on the season. Unfortunately it looked like he got hurt on the tackle. Hopefully he's ok.

Defensively, check this out:

MD Passing: 11-23 for 74 yards
MD Rushing: 37 rushes for 23 yards (helped by 7 sacks)

I mean wow!!! Tenuta was masterful with play-calling, mixing up blitzes and yet still providing strong deep cover. No big plays were given up. It was just an outstanding effort. There is no doubt that Eric Henderson makes a difference on that D-Line. Reis and Hall are really "getting" the LB position. Reis had two sacks and Hall seemed to be around the ball a lot with 8 tackles and a number of pressures of the MD QB's. Hats off to the D-Line, the LB's and the Secondary. Everyone really played well.

Just an outstanding win today in a tough environment. Enjoy it for the obligatory 24 hours. Then start remembering 2003 and a crushing loss to Duke. Time to exact revenge on homecoming day.
