Tech Opponent's Season Up In Smoke Already???

Sorry for the pun, but I couldn't refuse...today, starting guard Willie Shaw was kicked off the St. John's basketball team for "fifth degree posession of marijuana" which certainly makes it sound like medicinal purposes were far from Mr. Shaw's mind.

Seriously, this is a sad turn for a tough early season for the Red Storm (2-4), who we play in a couple of weeks. They've already endured losses to Hofstra and Fairfield and probably aren't feeling so confident after edging out St. Francis in the last game. This certainly looked like one of the challenging games in our schedule before the season started...then again, they were probably looking forward to beating Tech based on past performance.

Let's hope that the Jackets can keep up the momentum against St. Louis, Alabama A&M, and Marist, then NOT read the papers and play down to these guys' level.
