FOOTBALL
Story on Stan Hixon, who is succeeding at LSU as their wide receiver coach, after helping to develop Dez White, Kelly Campbell, Harvey Middleton and Derrick Steagall..............- From the Idaho Statesman, on GT vs Tulsa "Nobody saw this coming". Did you know we have played Tulsa twice in ouir bowl history?.................. Bobby Ross still a candidate for Army hc job as Frank Solich has turned it down.......... George O'Leary, while a possibility for the UCF job, may also be chasing the Syracure hc job. And his resume issue just keeps following him around. Give it a rest already.............Recruiting update - looks like CG is hunting a new punter - check this out for someone he is "pushing hard for", Kyle Belcher, from Albany GA. Also, here is mention of our QB commit Kyle Manley. Here is mention of a highly touted wide receiver prospect we have offered a 'ship to that wants to study engineering. Also happens to be a track star (10.6 seconds in 100 yd). GT is the place to bee............................ Off topic, but a great article on Notre Dame, their history and their future in athletics................."The Roof....the Roof....the Roof is on fire!!!" - can't get much more support than Ted Roof from his players and their parents.....Here is the official story on his announcement that came today. Here are what some other players and coaches are saying. Great going TED!!! In a small twisted way, I am glad we were able to help you secure that job.................Just to get you stired up about Duke, check out this article about 2002's game..Here is another one.

FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL- This article mentions GT hoops - "Rambling: It’s very, very early, but nobody’s looked better this college basketball season than Georgia Tech.. Then later says about footbal "Numbers game: If college football had any shame, it would be embarrassed that 6-6 teams — come on down, Kansas, UCLA and Georgia Tech — are participating in bowls."

BASKETBALL
GT hits the hardwood again versus Tenn St. Let's take care of business men. Let the blowouts continue............... More hype from the media on our brightly shining season so far........... And more hype - "Georgia Tech has burst onto the scene with its resounding 16-point victory over UConn in the Preseason NIT semis - its first win over a No.1 opponent since 1994. That's the closest game the Yellow Jackets have played thus far. There was no letdown from Paul Hewitt's crew after the big upset, as Tech went on to smoke Texas Tech and Ohio State by 20 points each. Jarrett Jack has been extremely efficient running the show and Isma'il Muhammad has provided a huge spark as the sixth man. With all of the early television exposure this season, Muhammad has put himself on the map as one of the top dunkers in college hoops. And this team will get an even bigger boost when Arizona transfer Will Bynum joins the mix later this month. He'll add even more explosiveness to an already potent backcourt." ................................. In the "NO RESPECT" column, those monkeys over at the AJC are celebrating our success with a fan poll titled "Who's most likely to end Tech's basketball winning streak", listing our next five opponents - great support from our hometown paper (sarcasm). Is that really all you could come up with?............If you needed more proof of their disrespect, check out the caption to this photo - and remember that this was the play where Reggie Ball leveled UGA's Thorton, then stood over him. The caption reads "Reggie Ball is blocked by UGA's Bruce Thornton". Give me a break. Thanks to the team at the Hive for the tipoff..................................We didn't get that junior hoops high school star - he ended up picking Syracuse - knew that was coming. Here is another story from the Albany Times Union. But it says a lot that Hewitt seems to be competing for the top kids consistently, even the top juniors. Bright things are ahead.................................. Fox Sports asks "Is anyone playing better at his position right now than Jarrett Jack?". Even compares against the top PG's in the country.............................. UConn finally got approval for the heralded freshman Charlie Villaneuva to play. That will only help GT, because they will be even stronger now. Should they remain as a top 5 team all year, our RPI ranking will stay high. This guy is a 6'11" McDonalds All-Ame rican. Kind of glad he wasn't on the floor to play us. Also, there is some major reflection going on over there. Check out this article, where they UConn's coaches debate GT's talent and what would've happened with made free throws and more effort. Hey UConn, I hope you find yourself and go undefeated into the dance, with your only loss coming at the hands of Georgia Tech. Then we can meet up again in March....................... Did you know that GT's win over UConn is our 9th all-time over a #1??? Did you know the all-time record is 10, by UCLA. We are tied with Notre Dame at 9, the followed by 3 ACC schools at 8 - Duke, MD and UNC. NOT BAD!!!............................. Here is a re-cap of the ACC/Big 10 challenge, game-by-game............................... Here is a re-cap of the ACC so far and the unexpected results......................... Here is an article from CBSSportsline with great props for GT hoops......................Is Chris Bosh's body wearing out? Check out this article highlighting that he may be hitting the wall. Going from 31 games at about 30-35 minutes per game to 80 games at 40+ minutes a game against bigger competition is a different game. I'll bet he holds up just fine though.

GT athletes move to finals in day one at Clemson Indoor Invitational.........................
