Where are they now - Puggy Blackmon

Congrats to our former golf coach, as he was inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame class of 2004 Wed., Jan. 14 in New Orleans, La. Story here.

Blackmon began his coaching career in 1983 at Georgia Tech and came to South Carolina in 1995. His teams have made 20 consecutive postseason appearances, advanced to the NCAA Championships 17 times and finished in the top 10 six times under his direction. While at Georgia Tech, Blackmon won five ACC Championships and the NCAA East Regional in 1991. He was named ACC Coach of the Year four times and Region Coach of the Year in 1991.


his players received the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the college player of the year. Some of his former golfers who have played on the PGA Tour include David Duval, Stewart Cink and former Gamecocks David Seawell and Kyle Thompson.
