Where are they now - Mark Teixeira

Interesting story on Teixeira, hightlighting the smooth transition he has made moving from 3rd to 1st base (no errors in 48 games). Offensively he's still getting it done:

Last season, Teixeira earned the Silver Slugger award. This season, he is hitting .296 with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs. He was also named the American League's Player of the Week this month after hitting .458 (11-for-24) with two homers, five RBIs, six runs scored and a .500 on-base percentage during a six-game stretch.

He's also becoming a clubhouse leader and a leader-by-example:

....Even as he excels in his third big league season, respects his responsibilities as a husband, and his duties as the team's player representative to the players' union, he remains the same Mark who grew up in Maryland admiring Eddie Murray and playing the sport he loved, baseball.

He's just a little older. He's also wiser.

Here's Mark on why he went to Georgia Tech:

"The reason I went to college is that I didn't want to spend a lot of time in the Minor Leagues," Teixeira said. "I knew once I got drafted as long as I kept working hard and getting better, I would be in the big leagues soon. Once I got to the big leagues, I didn't just want to be here. I wanted to be a good player and try to get better every year."
